John M. Burns

Corporate Secretary

Mr. Burns is the Corporate Secretary and serves as an Advisor to Histogen, Inc.  He has been an investor in Histogen since 2008 and a consultant and officer since March 2016, and brings a wealth of background from 45-year’s experience in a variety of industries.  Trained as an engineer and lawyer, he has been actively engaged as an investor in a number of companies, and has had board or management roles when needed.  He has helped a number of startup, and mature companies, in the fields of communications, IT, defense services, medical technology and energy.  Most recently he has specialized in restructuring and capitalizing troubled companies.

Recent positions include Chairman, CEO and controlling shareholder of Holocom, Inc., a manufacturer of specialty communications enclosures for defense and other classified/sensitive networks, and Lead Investor, Director and Audit Chair for AIRSIS, Inc. an M2M device, and marine domain awareness and information company.  In addition, he served as an advisor, then Vice Chair, Executive Committee Member, and Audit Chair for SYS Technologies.  He led two private placement rounds which allowed the company to recruit of key executives, directors, and service providers, as well as helping choose and manage some acquisitions which allowed the company to move the firm from OTC BB status and $5 million in sales to an AMEX traded $75 million defense services firm, now part of Kratos Defense.

Earlier he was a financial and business advisor arranging funding of clients from as little as $25,000 to $50,000,000 and management and IT services spanning 20 years with Management Analysis Company and his own firm Scripps Consulting Group, Inc.  He has been active in corporate governance, as a member of Corporate Directors Forum and has served on numerous private and public company and non-profit boards. Mr. Burns holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Juris Doctorate from University of San Diego.  He is a Vietnam era Veteran.
