ReGenicaTM for Skin Care
From the propriety bioreactor technology in which newborn cells are grown in a simulated embryonic environment, Histogen extracts serum-free human cell conditioned media - a diverse mixture of actives including human growth factors such as Keratinocyte Growth Factor, human ECM proteins such as collagens, and embryonic proteins which supports the epidermal stem cells that renew skin throughout life.

Histogen, Inc. identified significant potential in the aesthetics market, a segment that allows the Company to enter the marketplace with minimal regulatory hurdles. Histogen developed its ReGenica line of skin care products for the plastic surgery, dermatology and cosmetics industries. Initial product offerings in the areas of post-resurfacing and anti-aging were launched on April 27th, 2009.

In May 2008, an evaluation of ReGenica as a post-laser treatment was completed. Preliminary 'proof of concept' results from this initial evaluation suggest that topical application of a skin gel supplemented with Histogen's complex of proteins and growth factors can provide overall improved visible re-epithelialization of post ablative laser facial skin, and thereby accelerate patient recovery, keeping superficial cutaneous side effects to a minimum. The results of this study were published in the September 2009 issue of the peer-reviewed Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.

Histogen followed the initial post-resurfacing study with a split-face study utilizing the same gel product, ReGenica Facial Rejuvenation Complex, for post-procedure applications. Histogen also completed an anti-aging study with its everyday use creams, ReGenica Advanced Rejuvenation Day and Overnight Repair. For more information about the results of these studies, and the ReGenica line of products, please download the brochure.

Histogen is also considering additional future studies for its ReGenica skincare products, as well as the potential for product line expansion in other areas of the aesthetics and dermatology market, such as nail care, lip care, acne applications, and sun protection.

Preliminary 'proof of concept' results from this first evaluation suggest that topical application of a skin gel supplemented with ReGenica can provide overall improved visible re-epithelialization of post ablative laser facial skin.
